Field Hockey Loses to Mary Washington, 5-0
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. --- Roanoke dropped a 5-0 decision to Mary Washington on the road Wednesday afternoon. The Maroons fell to 1-10 on the year, while the Eagles improved to 8-6 on the season.
 
Roanoke has now lost eight straight to Mary Washington and trail 18-7 in the all-time series.
 
Mary Washington used a stifling defense and two goals from Kristen Haynor to cruise to the victory.
 
Kaitlyn Ripley scored the only first half goal and the eventual game-winner in 19th minute. Haynor then took over at the beginning of the second half, scoring her first goal three minutes into the play. Two minutes later she found the back of the cage for the second time of the game on a penalty stroke.
 
Caitlyn Baker added a score in the 55th minute and Morgan Jones fired in a shot with just five seconds remaining to give the final.
 
Amy Queen (Ellicott Citty, MD, Mount Hebron) registered the only shot of the day for the Maroons.

Cristina Schicilone (South Yarmouth, MA, Nauset Regional)
took the loss in goal for Roanoke, recording 17 saves on the contest.  Chrissy Baker picked up in the win in goal for the Eagles, blocking one shot on the afternoon.
 
The Eagles outshot the Maroons 31-1, and held a 13-3 advantage in penalty corners.
