Field Hockey drops two games on Weekend Road Trip
The Roanoke College Field Hockey team dropped a pair of games on its road trip this weekend. The Maroons (0-3) fell to York (PA) 8-0 on Saturday and to Kean, 3-2 in overtime on Sunday.

York College defeated Roanoke 8-0 under sunny skies at Kinsley Field on Saturday. With the win the Spartans tally their first win of the season and improve to 1-1. The highlight of the day was a three-goal performance by York's Sandee Reich, all in the first half.

Maroon goalkeeper Cristina Scichilone (South Yarmouth, MA, Nauset Regional) picks up the loss despite posting five saves in the contest.

The Spartans dominated both the shot and penalty corner margins in today's one-sided affair. The figures amounted to 20-6 in the shots column and 18-3 for the penalty corners.

In Sunday's contest, Olivia Triano second goal of the match was the game-winner in overtime to lift Kean to a 3-2 win.

After Triano scored the first goal of the contest, freshman Mariel Hunt (Rumsan, NJ, Rumsan Fair Haven) scored her first career goal off an assist from Julienne Brown (Orange, VA, Foxcroft School) to tie the score just before halftime.

Korri Thompson scored off an assist from Triano to give the Cougars a 2-1 lead with seven minutes remaining, but Lee Sheldon (Darien, CT, Darien) forced overtime with a goal just four minutes left in regulation.

Scichilone finished with 10 saves on the afternoon for the Maroons while Erin Langan collected two for Kean.

Kean outshot Roanoke, 32-5, including 15-4 in shots on goal. The Cougars also held a 23-3 advantage in penalty corners.

The women will host McDaniel on Saturday, Sept. 9 in non-conference action. Game time is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Kerr Stadium.
