Field Hockey Falls to Eastern Mennonite, 5-2 in ODAC Regular Season Finale
HARRISONBURG - The Roanoke field hockey team fell in their final regular season ODAC matchup to Eastern Mennonite, 5-2.   The Maroons dropped to 6-11, 2-2 ODAC, while Eastern Mennonite moves up to 7-8, 5-3 in ODAC play.

With this loss, the Maroons take the #6 seed in the ODAC Tournament and will have to travel to the play #3 seed Virginia Wesleyan, and the time of the game will be released later on ODAConline.com

The Royals jumped out to an early lead scoring in the first seven minutes of the game, when Nicole Bencsik fired a shot to the right side of the goal.  15 minutes later, Bencsik made a quick steal and deposited the ball into the cage to give EMU a 2-0 lead.  The Marrons capped the first half with a goal when Lianna Hachborn would score off a pass from Mariel Hunt to pull the game to 2-1.

EMU would score two more goals in the first five minutes of the second half, taking a 4-1 lead.  At the 43 minute mark, Kelly Finn scored to bring the Maroons back with in two, 4-2.  However, 13 minutes later EMU's Adriana Santiago would score the final goal of the game to make it a 5-2 game.

The Royals outshot the Maroons 23-6, while Christina Scichilone made eight saves on the day.

The Maroons will travel to Norfolk to face Viriginia Wesleyan on Saturday, October 29.  Keep checking maroons.roanoke.edu for more information as it becomes available.
