Field Hockey Falls 3-1 in Season Opener to McDaniel
WESTMINSTER, MD - The Roanoke College field hockey team fell in the first game of the season, 3-1 to McDaniel College on Saturday.
 
The Maroons open the season with a record of 0-1, while the Green Terror advance to 1-1 on the year.
 
Roanoke trailed 2-0 entering the second half, but eyed a comeback just minutes into the period.  At the 44:21 mark, Kelly Finn scored a goal off of a pass by Marceline Piek, pulling the Maroons within 1, 2-1.  However, the Green Terror netted one more goal with nine minutes to play to take its final lead of 3-1.
 
Lianna Hachborn led the Maroons in shots with two of the team's five.  Darian Shuker played all 70 minutes in goal and tallied 11 saves. 
 
The Maroons return to action on Sunday, September 2nd as they travel to face Gettysburg College.  That game is scheduled for a 12:00 PM start.
