Field Hockey Drops ODAC Opener to #13 Lynchburg, 4-0 on Wednesday
LYNCHBURG – The Roanoke College field hockey team dropped its Old Dominion Athletic Conference opener to #13 ranked Lynchburg College, 4-0 on Wednesday.
 
The Maroons now hold a record of 0-4, 0-1 ODAC, while the Hornets advance to 4-1, 1-0 in ODAC play.
 
Lynchburg scored two goals in each half.  Nicole Marburger found the back of the cage at 4:37.  At the 18:34 mark, Colleen Dore scored the Hornets second goal, taking a 2-0 lead.  In the second half, Melanie Tenney scored 15 minutes in to go up 3-0.  With four minutes to play in the game, Tess Brzezynski tallied Lynchburg's final goal, making the final score 4-0
 
Kelly Finn took the Maroons lone shot against the ranked Hornets.  Darian Shuker played all 70 minutes in goal and made 16 saves during the contest.
 
Lindsay Leonard led Lynchburg in shots as she had 14, only five of which were on goal.
 
The Maroons return to action on Friday, September 15th as they start a five game home stand, starting with Sewanee University.  That contest is scheduled for a 12:00 PM start time.
