Maroons Stopped By Kean, Lose 5-0 on Sunday
SALEM – The Roanoke College field hockey team lost to Kean University 5-0 on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Maroons now hold a record of 1-5, 0-1 in ODAC play, while the Cougars are 4-4 in the 2012 campaign.
 
Kean would score four goals in the first half, including two from Marissa Robinson.  Both of her goals were assisted by Kelly Bachovchin.  Veronica Pogorzelski scored the Cougar's first goal at 19:38, while Laura Cheatham scored the team's third goal at 32:52.
 
In the second half, Korri Thompson scored Kean's final goal at 48:05, assisted by Cheatham.
 
The Maroons were outshot 16-5 and trailed in penalty corners 14-4.  Roanoke's five shot came from Julienne Brown, Kelly Finn, Lianna Hachborn, Marceline Piek, and Shannon McCarthy.  Darian Shuker played 52 minutes in goal and tallied six saves.
 
Roanoke returns to action on Wednesday, September 19th as they face off against DII opponent Limestone College.  That contest is scheduled for a 4:00 PM start.
