Field Hockey Drops ODAC Contest 1-0 to Washington and Lee
SALEM – The Roanoke College field hockey team fell in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play on Tuesday Night as they lost to Washington & Lee, 1-0.

The Maroons hold a record of 1-7, 0-2 in ODAC play, while the Generals are now 3-5, 1-1 in the conference.  Roanoke defeated Washington and Lee in 2011, 2-1, as it was the first win over the Generals  since 2004.

The lone goal of the game came at the 15:56 point in the game when Washington and Lee's Riley Hampsch popped the ball over the goalkeeper to give the Generals the 1-0 lead.  That one goal would be good enough as neither team could find the back of the cage over the next 55 minutes.

Washington and Lee held the margin in shots 11-7, and a large margin in penalty corners 21-3.  Mariel Hunt led all players with four shots, while Marceline Piek tallied two, and Allison Denton Picked up one.  Darian Shuker played all 70 minutes in goals and tallied three saves on the afternoon.

The Maroons host Sweet Briar College during family weekend here at Roanoke College.  The contest will take place on Saturday, September 29th at 12:00 PM in Kerr Stadium.
