Field Hockey Falls to Centre 3-0 on Saturday
SALEM – The Roanoke College field hockey team fell 3-0 to Centre College in non-conference action on Saturday.  After this contest the Maroons have a record of 4-9, while the Colonels are now 6-6.
 
Roanoke now holds a record of 1-2 against Centre College, having lost their last meeting in 2011, 5-1.  The Maroons last defeated the Colonels in 1998, when they were victorious, 3-0.
 
Centre struck first as Alexis Hebert tallied a goal at 17:38 off an assist by Courtney Kuiper.  With 12 minutes to play in the contest, the Colonels scored again when Kuiper found the back of the cage off a pass from Barbara Parks.  Just three minutes later, Centre extended its' lead to 3-0 as Chelsea Klein tallied a goal, assisted by Kuiper.
 
The Colonels outshot the Maroons 12-4, and also led in penalty corners 7-4.  Marceline Piek led Roanoke in shots with two, followed by Morgan Rhyne and Devon Huddleston with one each.  Darian Shuker played all 70 minutes in the cage and tallied four saves.
 
The Maroons return to action on Sunday, October 14th as they travel to Winchester, VA to face Shenandoah University.  That contest is scheduled for a 12:00 PM start.
