Field Hockey Defeated by Shenandoah 1-0 on Sunday
WINCHESTER – The Roanoke College field hockey team lost in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action to Shenandoah University, 1-0 on Sunday.  The Maroons now have a record of 4-10, 3-4 ODAC, while the Hornets are 9-6 and 3-3 in ODAC play.
 
Roanoke has an all-time record of 9-5 against Shenandoah, winning the previous meeting between the two teams in 2011 by a score of 2-1.
 
Shenandoah's Amber VanHorn scored the lone goal of the contest at the 12:01 minute mark in the first half.  Alexandra Darrow assisted VanHorn's goal.
 
Shenandoah outshot Roanoke 10-5 and led in penalty corners 6-4.  Marceline Piek topped the Maroons in shots with four, followed by Julienne Brown with one.  Darian Shuker played all 70 minutes in the cage for Roanoke, tallying five saves.
 
The Maroons are back in action on Sunday, October 21st as they take on Lebanon Valley College in non-conference action.  That contest is scheduled for a 11:30 AM start at Donald J. Kerr Stadium.
