Field Hockey Closes Regular Season with Loss to Randolph-Macon, 5-1
SALEM – The Roanoke College field hockey team (4-12, 3-5 ODAC) finished their regular season with a 5-1 loss to Randolph-Macon (8-10, 7-1 ODAC) on Wednesday afternoon.
 
After the Shenandoah (9-7, 3-4 ODAC)/Eastern Mennonite (4-11, 3-4) game at 7:00 PM tonight, the Maroons will know where they stand in the table for the ODAC Tournament.  Roanoke defeated Eastern Mennonite 1-0 in regular season play, while falling 1-0 to Shenandoah.  Only six teams make the postseason for field hockey in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.  For more information on the ODAC Field Hockey Championships, go to: http://odaconline.com/tournament/fall/fhoc/index
 
Shannon McCarthy scored the Maroons lone goal at 33:44 in the first half, off a pass from Marceline Piek.  The goal counts as McCarthy's second goal of the season, and while Piek picked up her fifth assist in 2012.
 
The Yellow Jackets' Catherine Pricone scored a hat trick over the course of the 70-minute contest.  She had two goals in the first half and one in the second, increasing her goal count on the season to eight.  Carrie Jacobs and Rachel Gardner scored the other two goals for Randolph-Macon, with Pricone picking up an assist on the latter.
 
Randolph-Macon outshot Roanoke 24-13, while the Maroons led in penalty corners 11-8.  Devon Huddleston led the Maroons in shots with four, while Piek tallied three.  Darian Shuker faced 17 shots and made 13 saves during her time between the pipes.

The contest also served as Senior Day for Roanoke's lone senior, Julienne Brown.  Brown has started in every contest in 2012 and has netted two goals and one assist this season.
