Field Hockey Finishes Season with Loss To Bridgewater on Saturday
BRIDGEWATER – The Roanoke College field hockey team took an 8-1 loss in the opening round of the ODAC Field Hockey Tournament, to Bridgewater on Saturday.

The Maroons finish the season with a record of 4-13 and were 3-5 in ODAC play.  The Maroons earned the sixth seed in the ODAC tournament after a tie-breaker, having beaten Eastern Mennonite in regular season play to earn the slot.

Roanoke's only goal came at the 63:51 mark in the contest when Lianna Hachborn scored off a rebound from the keeper.  The unassisted goal was Hachborn's first goal of the season.

Bridgewater scored five goals in the first half, with each goal being scored by a different player: Rachel Loy, Taylor Prillaman, Kelly Ryan, Colleen Dickson and Caroline Fletcher.  The Maroons held the Eagles to three goals in the second half, with Ryan being the only player to notch a second goal.  Caroline Augsburger had three assists in the quarterfinal matchup.

The Maroons were outshot by the Eagles 23-4.  Hachborn led the team in attempts with five, followed by Marceline Piek with three.  Three other maroons had one shot each: Devon Huddleston, Julienne Brown and Kelly Finn.  Darian Shuker and Candice Fisher each split time between the pipes, and tallied eight saves between them.
