Lauren Silva Named New Field Hockey Assistant Coach

SALEM - The Roanoke College field hockey team announces the newest assistant coach to join the staff, Lauren Silva.

Silva is a 2011 graduate of American International College, where she played both field hockey and lacrosse. During her time at American International, she was an NFHCA National Academic Squad member, as well as a Northeast-10 Conference Academic All-Conference Team member. Most recently, Silva has served as a Conference officer at the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas. She has also been a coach with the USA Field Hockey Futures at Duke University.

"I am extremely thrilled for the new addition to our field hockey team," said Roanoke field hockey head coach, Briana Banks. "Lauren's experience as a player of at American International College and her professional development working as an intern with Conference Carolinas and the NCAA is going to be a real asset to our program. She has an infectious enthusiasm for the sport and will help lead us in the right direction."

Silva joins Banks, who is currently in her fourth year at the helm of the field hockey team. The Maroons had four All-ODAC players in the 2012 season, the most to earn that honor since 2009. Roanoke opens up 2013 play on August 30th in Lexington, VA as they take on Goucher College. That game is scheduled for a 7:00 PM start.
