DANVILLE, KY - The Roanoke College field hockey team fell in non-conference action to Centre College, 5-1 on Friday night. The Maroons now have a record of 1-1, while the Colonels are 3-0 on the season.

Centre got on the board early, scoring in the first 3:31 of the game as Courtney Kuiper scored the team's first goal, unassisted. The Maroons were able to hold off the Colonels for another 18 minutes before Centre's Chelsea Klein scored off of a pass from Erin Mays to take a 2-0 lead. The Maroons found the back of the cage at the 31:37 mark in the first half, as Kellie Jasinski tallied Roanoke's lone goal.

The Colonels were able to score three times in the second half, as Megan Flocken, Alexis Hebert and Klein each tallied a goal in the period. At the end of the game, Centre won 5-1.

Roanoke was led in shots by both Shelbi Holloman and Kellie Jasinski, who each had three shots apiece. Elyse Law had the Maroons' only other shot. Candice Fisher played all 70 minutes in the cage and tallied one save.

The Colonels finished with 19 shots, led by Chelsea Kline with height, followed by Alexis Hebert with four. Kirby Roberts tallied 70 minutes in goal, allowing only one goal.

Centre led in shots, 17-9, while also holding the advantage in penalty corners 8-5.

The Maroons return to action on Saturday, September 7^th as they take on The University of the South, in Danville, KY. That contest is scheduled for a 12:00 PM start.
