Field Hockey Falls to Eastern Mennonite on Wednesday
HARRISONBURG - The Roanoke College field hockey team fell in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action to Eastern Mennonite, 3-0 on Wednesday. The Maroons have a record of 2-6; 1-1 in ODAC play, while Eastern Mennonite sits with a mark of 2-8; 2-0 in ODAC play.

The Royals opened up the scoring early in the contest, as Melissa Cox found the back of the cage in the seventh minute. She tipped in a shot off a corner, allowing Jenessa Derstine to tally the assist on the goal. The Maroons were able to hold of EMU for the remainder of the half, heading into the locker room at the end of the period trailing 1-0.

Nine minutes into the second half, Mandy Stowers scored EMU's second goal, also picking up Derstine's second assist of the evening. 10 minutes later, Maria Martin tallied the third goal of the evening for the Royals off of a penalty corner. Neither team would score for the remainder of the game, as Eastern Mennonite picked up the 3-0 victory.

The Royals outshot Roanoke 22-10. Shelbi Holloman led the Maroons in total shotswith six, followed by Isabella Lucia with two. Candice Fisher played all 70 minutes in goal, tallying six saves.

The Maroons return to action on Friday, October 4th as they host McDaniel College at Kerr Stadium. That contest is scheduled for a 5:00 PM start.
