Field Hockey Falls to McDaniel by Narrow 2-1 Margin
SALEM - The Roanoke College field hockey team was edged by a late game goal in their contest against McDaniel College on Friday evening. The Maroons now have a record of 2-7, while the Green Terror now has a mark of 5-5.

The Maroons hopped on the scoreboard at the 21:45 mark in the first half, as Alex DiFelice scored her first career goal, assisted by Fleur Moorlag. The assist is Moorlag's first of the season as well.

In the 41st minute, McDaniel's Sara Reynolds was awarded a penalty stroke in the circle, which was saved by Candice Fisher. Fisher's save allowed the Maroons to hold on to their 1-0 lead. However, in the 44th minute, Haley VanNostrand tied the game for the Green Terror off of a penalty corner. VanNostrand's goal was assisted by Danielle DeColli.

The Green Terror pulled ahead by one with 11:42 to play in the contest, as Allie Miller scored an unassisted goal. That would serve as the final goal of the game as Roanoke fell 2-1 to McDaniel.

DeFelice's goal makes her the seventh different Maroon to score for Roanoke this season. All of Roanoke's goals this season have come from freshmen as well.

The Maroons return to action on Saturday, October 5th as they travel to face Randolph-Macon College. That contest is scheduled for a 3:00 PM start.
