Maroons Drop ODAC Contest to Washington and Lee on Tuesday

LEXINGTON - The Roanoke College field hockey team fell in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action against Washington and Lee University, 5-0 on Tuesday. The Maroons now have a record of 2-11; 1-4 ODAC, while the Generals sit with a mark of 3-11, 2-3 in the ODAC.

The Generals took 26 shots in the game, scoring five goals. All five goals came in the first half of the contest. Washington and Lee goals were scored by Kendall Peterson, Charlotte MacDonald, Sydney Tomaso, Candice Stefanic and Riley Hampsch. Peterson and MacDonald each tallied an assist as well in the contest.

Roanoke was able to hold Washington and Lee scoreless in the second half. In fact, the Maroons outshot the Generals 15-7 in the second half. The Maroons also held the advantage in penalty corners in the second half, 6-5. However, the Maroons remained scoreless in the period with Washington and Lee picking up the 5-0 win.

The Maroons put up 16 shots against the Generals on Tuesday evening. Shelbi Holloman led the team in shots with four, followed by Isabella Lucia and Kellie Jasinski with three shots each. Candice Fisher played all 70 minutes in goal and tallied 14 saves.

The Maroons return to action on Saturday, October 19th as they travel to face Sweet Briar College. That contest is scheduled to begin at 12:00 PM.
