Field Hockey Defeats Sweet Briar 3-0 on Saturday
SWEET BRIAR - The Roanoke College field hockey team picked up a win on Saturday afternoon, defeating Sweet Briar College, 3-0 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference competition. The Maroons now have a record of 3-11; 2-4 in the ODAC, while the Vixen are 1-12; 0-7 in conference play.

Roanoke holds a 45-14-4 all-time record against Sweet Briar College. The Maroons have won the last 19 meetings between the two teams, including an 18-1 scoring margin over the last four years.

Both teams were scoreless in the first half, with Roanoke holding a 7-0 shot advantage over the Vixen. The Maroons' first goal came at the 57:18 mark as Kellie Jasinski scored to give Roanoke a 1-0 lead. Just mere moments later, Kelly Finn found the back of the cage at 59:58, extending Roanoke's lead to two. Jasinski lit the lamp once more with three minutes to play, giving the Maroons their final advantage of 3-0 over Sweet Briar.

The Maroons outshot Sweet Briar 26-3 on the afternoon. Shelbi Holloman led the charge taking seven of the team's attempts, followed by Kelly Finn with five and Kellie Jasinski with four. Candice Fisher played all 70 minutes in the cage, tallying two saves.

Roanoke returns to action on Tuesday October 22nd as they play host to Lynchburg College at Kerr Stadium. That contest is scheduled for a 7:00 PM start.
