Field Hockey Falls to Lynchburg on Tuesday
SALEM - The Roanoke College field hockey team fell to Lynchburg College, 3-0 on Tuesday evening. The Maroons now have a record of 3-12; 2-5 in ODAC play, while the Hornets now sit with a mark of 12-4; 6-0 in the ODAC.

While Lynchburg held the advantage in shots in the first half, 8-1, Roanoke's defensive play stepped up to keep the ODAC's top team from scoring. Candice Fisher tallied three saves in the first half, with the defense helping keep the Hornets at bay. Roanoke and Lynchburg were locked at a 0-0 tie through the first 35 minutes.

It was in the second half when Lynchburg put the first goal on the scoreboard. At the 38:22 mark, Katie Kline scored an unassisted goal into the left side of the cage for the 1-0 Hornet lead. Lynchburg turned around and scored two minutes later as Kelsey Link took a pass from Morgan Lammando, placing it in the right side of the goal. The Hornets had taken a 2-0 lead. Lynchburg scored one last time at the 46 minute mark as Lammando got her own shot on goal after receiving a penalty corner pass from Kline. The Hornets 3-0 lead held through the remainder of the contest, picking up the win over Roanoke.

The Maroons got five shots off against the top team in the ODAC, as Shelbi Holloman took two. Isabella Lucia, Katinka Janssen and Kellie Jasinski each finished with one shot apiece. Candice fisher faced 14 shots on the evening and tallied 11 saves in 70 minutes of play.

The Maroons return to action on October 26th as they play host to Shenandoah University in the final game of the regular season. The contest, which is slated for a 2:00 PM start, will also serve as Senior Day for Sophia Rodbell, Kelly Finn and Shannon McCarthy.
