Holloman Scores Four in Roanoke 5-0 Win Over Ferrum
FERRUM - Shelbi Holloman scored four goals in Roanoke's 5-0 win over Ferrum College in field hockey on Saturday afternoon. The maroons now have a record of 3-2, while the Panthers sit with a mark of 1-6.

This is the Maroons' third consecutive win, and is the first time the Maroons have been able to string three wins together since the 2004 season, where the Maroons finished 11-9. Roanoke is also off to its best start (3-2) since the 2004 season, which also started with the same record.

Holloman's four goals ranks second all-time at Roanoke for goals in a game, a mark that only three other field hockey players in Roanoke College history have accomplished. As a sophomore, Holloman has scored 11 goals already over her career.

Holloman scored her first goal at the 23:36 mark unassisted. Just six minutes later, Holloman scored her second off of a penalty stroke, putting the Maroons ahead 2-0. Roanoke's Kelsey Palmisano got in on the action at the 33:30 mark, with an unassisted goal of her own. After the first 35 minutes, Roanoke led Ferrum 3-0.

Holloman was back at it just a few minutes in to the second half, as she received a pass from Kellie Jasinski and found the back of the cage for the third time on the day. She would score once more at 50:23, this time assisted by ODAC Player of the Week Katerina DeSimone. Roanoke continued to hold off the panthers for the remainder of the game, picking up a 5-0 win over Ferrum.

The Maroons were led in shots by Holloman, who fired off nine at the cage during the contest. She was followed by Kelsey Palmisano who took four shots on the afternoon. Candice Fisher played 52 minutes in goal for Roanoke, tallying three saves.

Ferrum was held to just five shots during the game, split between two players. Kasey Sheets took three of the Panthers' shots, while Samantha Barbarczuk attempted two shots. Alexis Atkinson played a complete game in the cage, making eight saves in the effort.

The Maroons return to action on Sunday, September 24th as they take on Bethany College at Kerr Stadium. That contest is scheduled for a 1:00 PM start.
