Field Hockey Drops ODAC Contest to Bridgewater on Wednesday
BRIDGEWATER - The Roanoke College field hockey team fell to Bridgewater College 5-3 on Wednesday evening. The Maroons now have a record of 4-3, 0-1 in ODAC play, while the Eagles are 4-5, 1-0 in the ODAC.

Roanoke is coming off of a four game win-streak, the best set of consecutive wins since the 2004 season. The Maroons also got off to the best start in 10 years, starting the season with a record of 4-2 in six games.

Bridgewater's Caroline Augsburger scored the first two goals for the Eagles, both in the first 11 minutes of the game. The Eagles scored once more at 14:37 as Taylor Prillaman found the back of the cage off of an assist from Augsburger. At the half, Bridgewater led 3-0 over the Maroons.

Just three minutes in to the second half, Roanoke's Caroline Peterson scored the Maroons first goal, assisted by Kelsey Palmisano. Petereson's goal pulled the Maroons within two, 3-1 early in the second. However, Bridgewater scored two more goals, at the 53 and 58 minute marks, as Marissa Sims and Alenka Ferrufino picked up tallies for the Eagles. Roanoke rallied in the final five minutes of the game as Kelsey Palmisano scored the Maroons second goal, assisted by Katerina DeSimone. With two minutes to play, Shelbi Holloman netted Roanoke's third, assisted again by DeSimone. However, time ran out in the middle of the Maroons run, and Bridgewater picked up the win 5-3.

Roanoke tallied 17 shots on the evening, with Caroline Peterson and Kelsey Palmisano leading the team with four each. Shelbi Holloman followed in shots with three on the night. Ashley Hamman played 55 minutes in net and tallied six saves in the game.

Bridgewater was led in shots by Taylor Prillaman who fired off six shots in the effort. Amanda Harper played all 70 minutes in goal and tallied five saves.

The Maroons return to action on Saturday, September 27th as they take on Randolph-Macon College in Kerr Stadium. That contest is scheduled for a 1:00 PM start.
