Field Hockey Meets Milestone With Win Over Hendrix
CONWAY, AR - The Roanoke College field hockey team defeated Hendrix College 3-2 on Monday. The Maroons now have a record of 7-7, while the Warriors are 2-10 for the season.

The Maroons seventh win of the season marks the most wins for the program since the 2004 season. The Maroons had previously won six games in 2011, and it is the most wins in a season since Briana Banks has been head coach of the Maroons.

The Warriors put the first goal up on the board at 6:06 as Lotte Kraaijenbrink tallied an unassisted goal early in the first half. Kraaijenbrink scored the goal off of a rebound. The Maroons scored the tying goal at 27:16, when Shelbi Holloman found the back of the cage off of a pass from Caroline Peterson. The teams would enter the half tied at 1-1.

Hendrix scored once again at the top of the second half, this time just 1:56 into the period. Brooke Whitaker scored, unassisted, to take a 2-1 advantage in the opening moments of the half. Holloman scored her second goal of the game just two minutes later off of a penalty corner, fielding a pass from Isabella Lucia. Roanoke's game-winner came from Kelsey Palmisano at 59:03, when she scored off of a pass from Katerina DeSimone. The Maroons held off the Warriors for the final 11 minutes of the contest, picking up the team's seventh win of the season.

Roanoke just outshot Hendrix by one attempt, 15-14. Holloman led the team with five shots, while Jellie Jasinski, Palmisano and Alex DiFelice tallied two shots each. Candice Fisher played all 70 minutes in the cage, tallying 10 saves in the process.

The Warriors were led by Raychl Reger, who took five shots, while Vanessa Jasso, Brooke Whitaker and Morgan Fires each took two shots apiece. Gabryele Pochron played the complete game and finished with five saves.

The Maroons return to action on Wednesday, October 15th as they face Rhodes over the Fall Break. The contest is scheduled for a 5:00 PM Eastern/4:00 PM Central start.
