Field Hockey Earns Numerous NFHCA Academic Awards

Salem, Va. – The Roanoke College field hockey team earned numerous National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) academic awards during the 2015 season.

The team collected the NFHCA National Academic Team award, which goes to teams that have a 3.0 team GPA in the fall semester.

Four Maroons were also named 2015 Collegiate Scholars of Distinction by the NFHCA. These outstanding student-athletes have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher through the first semester of the 2015-16 academic year. Juniors Emily McQueen (Bryn Athyn, Pa.) and Kelly Wood (Mirror Lake, N.H.) earned the honor for the third year in a row. Sophomore Caroline Peterson (Chestertown, Md.) is now a two-time recipient of the award and freshman Kaylin Stenson (Coopersburg, Pa.) garnered the accolade as well.

Nine Maroons were also named to the 2015 SGI/NFHCA Collegiate National Academic Squad by achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher during the first semester of the 2015-16 academic year.
