The Lead: Katerina DeSimone's unassisted overtime goal and 18 saves by Heather Schauder sent Roanoke to a 1-0 victory over Stevenson on Sunday afternoon.

How it Happened:
  • After a scoreless two halves, RC was able to win the game on DeSimone's unassisted strike.
  • Schauder was outstanding in the cage, making 10 saves in the second-half alone.
  • Stevenson was awarded three penalty strokes in the first 25 minutes of the game, but Schauder turned away all three to keep the Mustangs off the board.
  • Schauder would continue her hot play, making nine saves in the first 10 minutes of the second stanza.
  • RC turned the tables on Stevenson late in the second half putting on offensive pressure of its own, out shooting Stevenson in the final 10 minutes of regulation.
  • Early in the extra period, Kellie Jasinski made a key defensive save to keep RC alive.
  • Following a pair of shots by Shelbi Holloman that were saved, DeSimone collected the ball and scored the game-winner.
  • RC improves to 2-0 for the first time since 2003. Stevenson, which won a school record 15 games last season, drops to 0-3.
