The Lead: Roanoke broke open a scoreless game with three goals in a span of 3:48 at the start of the second half en route to a 3-0 victory over Wilson on Wednesday night at Kerr Stadium.

How it Happened:
  • The Maroons controlled the pace of play in the first-half, outshooting the Phoenix 9-0 and had 10 penalty corner opportunities. Despite the offensive pressure, RC could not score and the game remained scoreless at halftime.
  • Kelsey Palmisano scored just 3:22 into the second-half when she was able to bang home a shot in a crowd of players to make it 1-0 RC.
  • Just over a minute later, Palmisano sent a pass to Katerina DeSimone who slipped a shot pass through the Wilson keeper Kayla Butts to make it 2-0.
  • Shelbi Holloman closed out the scoring run when she corralled a rebound of a Kestrel Thorne-Kaunelis shot and scored to put RC up 3-0.
  • Wilson had a chance to score late in the contest by Kaitlynne Browns' point blank shot was turned away by Heather Schauder.
  • Roanoke outshot Wilson 20-1 and had a 15-0 edge in penalty corners.
