The Lead: Roanoke scored four goals in the first 23:40 of the match en route to a 6-0 field hockey win over Hendrix Saturday afternoon in Salem.
How it Happened
- The Maroons needed just 25 seconds to get on the board as they advanced the ball down field following the opening whistle and Megan Diehl scored to make it 1-0.
- Rebecca Schmidt doubled the RC lead to 2-0 just over six minutes into the match, then she would set up Shelbi Holloman at the 12:25 mark to put the Maroons out in front 3-0.
- Holloman would close out the first-half scoring, getting an unassisted strike at the 23:40 mark.
- Hendrix had several opportunities to get on the board during the first-half but Heather Schauder made six saves, including three stops in a 27 second span early in half.
- Diehl got her second goal of the game and her fourth in the last two contests when she deflected a Schmidt shot into the goal in the 41st minute.
- RC held a 32-12 edge in shots and Schauder made 11 saves on the day.
