Chelsea Klein Named Assistant Field Hockey Coach
Salem, Va. - Roanoke College Head Field Hockey Coach Briana Banks has announced the addition of Chelsea Klein to her coaching staff.

Klein will assist Banks in all facets of the program including on-field instruction, scouting, recruiting and monitoring team academics.

"I am thrilled to welcome Chelsea Klein to the RC hockey program," said Banks. "She has great knowledge of the sport and I am excited for her to pass that on to the talented group with have this season. Her energy and passion for the game will help raise our team's intensity."

A native of Reading, Pa., Klein graduated from Albright College in 2014 with a degree in psychology. During her two seasons as a member of the Lions' program, Klein played in 38 career games and registered 18 career points on six goals and six assists. During her senior season, she served as team-captain.

Klein earned Second-Team All Commonwealth Conference honors after finishing her senior season with a team-high four goals and two assists from her midfield position. Following her junior season, Klein was named Team MVP.

Klein began her collegiate career at Manhattanville College in Purchase, N.Y. After staring 18 games as a freshman, Klein followed with a sophomore season in which she started all 19 games and was a Second-Team All Freedom Conference selection.

"I am eager to be joining the Roanoke college field hockey staff and contribute to the success of the team," said Klein. "Coach Banks has given me an amazing opportunity to learn and coach alongside of her. Her knowledge and love for the game will help me develop the skills I need to become a great coach. I am excited to experience the coaching side of the game and beyond motivated to be the best I can be for this program."

Roanoke will open the 2015 season on Tuesday, September 1 when it hosts Ferrum at 4:30 p.m.
