The Lead: Shelbi Holloman scored twice and added an assist as Roanoke topped Ferrum 4-0 to open the 2016 season.  

How it Happened:

  • Just 41 seconds into the contest, sophomore Megan Diehl set the tone with the first goal of the season, assisted by Holloman giving RC a 1-0 lead.
  • Ten minutes later (10:41), Holloman put one in the back of the cage, making it a 2-0 game.
  • Junior Rebecca Schmidt tacked on another unassisted goal in the final minutes of the first half, at the 30:08 mark.
  • Holloman extended to gap to 4-0 with an unassisted goal with under five minutes left in regulation to secure to victory.
  • The Maroon defense held the Panthers to only two shots, one on goal, while sophomore goalie Heather Schauder recorded one save in the shutout. Roanoke recorded 27 shots on the night
  •  Roanoke earned 14 penalty corners to Ferrum's zero.
