Holloman Named DIII National Player of the Week

CHANDLER, Ariz. – Reigning ODAC Player of the Week, Shelbi Holloman was named the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division lll Player of the Week. With the recognition, Holloman becomes the first player in the Roanoke Field Hockey program history to earn a player of the week award at the national level.

Holloman, a senior from Suffolk, Va., helped the Maroons get off to a 2-0 start with wins at Ferrum and against Washington College. Holloman scored twice in a 4-0 triumph over the Panthers, adding an assist on Roanoke's first goal of the season just 41-seconds into the contest. She followed that with another goal and two assists in a 4-2 victory over Washington. Holloman leads the ODAC thru the first weekend of competition with nine points. 

The Maroons (2-0) return to action, Saturday Sept. 10 when they host Wesley College (0-1) at 11 a.m. at Kerr Stadium.
