The Lead: Shelbi Holloman recorded a hat trick as Roanoke topped Eastern Mennonite 6-1 in ODAC Field Hockey action Saturday afternoon in Salem, Va.

How it Happened:

• RC came out of the gates quick with Katerina DeSimone giving the Maroons a 1-0 lead 1:48 into the game when she scored off a rebound of a Rebecca Schmidt shot.
• Schmidt then scored a goal at the 22:11 mark before Holloman stuck 45 seconds later to make it 3-0 Maroons.
• Holloman scored to make it 4-0 at the 27:38 mark and then Alexis Lester closed out the first-half scoring with a goal at 32:58.
• EMU got on the board with just under 10 minutes to go in the game but Holloman would take a pass from Emily McQueen and make it 6-1 with just over eight minutes left.
• RC outshot EMU 24-5 for the game and held a 9-7 edge in penalty corners.

Up Next: Roanoke will be back in action Tuesday when it travels to Wilson for a 5:00 p.m. non-conference game.
