The Lead: Bridgewater topped Roanoke 1-0 in ODAC Field Hockey action on Thursday night behind 13 saves from Ali Bishop.
How it Happened:
- Roanoke outshot Bridgewater 9-5 in the opening half, but was kept off the scoreboard thanks to six saves from Bishop.
- Bridgewater got on the board at the 46:39 mark when Laura Gretz scored on assist from Emily Matisons off a penalty corner opportunity.
- From there Bishop made five of her seven second-half saves following the goal, including a stop on a Kellie Jasinski shot in the 65th minute right before Gretz made a defensive save on a Fiona Dougan rebound to keep RC off the board.
- Roanoke outshot Bridgewater 18-9 for the game and held a 9-3 edge in penalty corners. Heather Schauder made seven saves of her own in the cage for the Maroons.
Up Next: Roanoke will be back in action on Saturday when it hosts Sweet Briar at 1:00 p.m. in ODAC play.
