The Lead: Lynchburg topped Roanoke 4-2 in ODAC Field Hockey action Wednesday night in Salem. 

How it Happened:

• Nikki Simpao opened the scoring with a goal four minutes into the contest to give LC a 1-0 lead.
• Jackie Lerro recorded a hat trick on the night started by a goal at the 19:25 mark to make it 2-0 as the score would stay that way into the intermission.
• Emilee Wooten closed the gap with an unassisted goal just 1:20 into the second half for Roanoke.
• Back-to-back goals from Lerro at the 53rd and 59-minute mark gave the Hornets a 4-1 advantage.
• With ten minutes left in the game, Leonore Keunen found the back of the cage for the Maroons to cut it to 4-2.
• Lynchburg outshot Roanoke 12-10 while the Maroons held a 9-2 edge in corners.
• Emma Clark made two saves on the night and Laurel Nicks made six for the Hornets.
