Stenson Named All-Region by the NFHCA

Salem, Va. – Roanoke College field hockey standout Kaylin Stenson has been named to the 2017 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III All-Region squad.

Stenson earns her first all-region honor weeks after being named First-Team All-ODAC. It was her third straight all-conference honor and her first first-team nod. Stenson headed the Maroon defense that recorded seven shutouts on the season, including a pair of back-to-back shutouts on Sept. 6 against Wilson (5-0) and Sept. 9 against McDaniel (2-0) along with a 1-0 win against Bridgewater on Sept. 19 and a 5-0 victory vs. Transylvania on Sept. 23.

Stenson led a defense that allowed a league-low 1.49 goals per game. The junior from Coopersburg, Pa. also recorded a goal and an assist in a 9-0 win at Sweet Briar. Stenson was also named to the ODAC All-Tournament team as the Maroons topped Randolph-Macon to advance to the league semifinals.

Roanoke capped the year with its most wins since the 2002 season and its 14 victories ties for the second most in school history. This also marks the third consecutive year RC was represented on the all-region team.
