Roanoke Places Three On All State Team

Wooten, Heffron, and Wright Named All State

The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced their All State Field Hockey teams on Wednesday morning. Three Maroons were named to the two teams with Emilee Wooten earning first team distinction while Lauren Heffron and Alexis Wright were named to the second team.

Wooten, a senior attack, finished the season ranked fourth in the ODAC in points with 19, six goals and seven assists. Wooten currently sits atop the Roanoke record book with 138 points and 32 assists. Her 53 goals is second all time behind Shelbi Holoman's 56 goals. Wooten was named 1st team All ODAC for the third consecutive season after landing on the 3rd team in 2017.

Heffron, a senior midfielder, scored three goals with two assists for eight points during the nine game schedule including a game winning goal at Shenandoah on April 2nd. Heffron is a three-time All ODAC performer, earning 3rd team honors in 2017 while being a 1st team honoree for the past two seasons.

Wright, a sophomore defender, helped anchor a Roanoke defense that allowed just 12 goals during the season, tied for second best in the ODAC. At 1.32 goals against per game, the Roanoke College defense ranked third in the conference. In addition to being named to the ODAC All Tournament team this season, Wright was named to the All ODAC 2nd team as a defender.
