The Short Story: The Roanoke College field hockey team tied the school record for consecutive shutout wins with a 7-0 win over Sewanee on Saturday. The record was previously set by the 2000 team which opened the season 5-0, all shutouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • It did not take too long for the Maroons to score when Lindsey Keyes found the back of the cage at 6:29 into the game. The goal would prove to be the game-winner.
  • Keyes would score againin the 26th minute off a pass from Viktoria Warweg. The Maroons led 2-0 at the half.
  • Josephine van Leyen added to the total at 34:55.
  • Hope Keller, Saige Bullock, and Grace Vernarelli all scored in the second half for the Maroons.
  • Keller scored the final goal of the game in the 59th minute.
