Four Maroons Highlight 2022 All-ODAC Field Hockey Teams

SALEM, Va. – After a season that saw new program records set, the Roanoke College field hockey team was honored today with four players being named to ODAC post-season teams.

Martha Hurley, Hope Keller, and Grace Vernarelli were each named Second Team All-ODAC while Viktoria Warweg was a Third Team All-ODAC selection.

Hurley completed her career with incredibly strong play on the field. She finished first on the team in assists (11), tied for second on the team in point total (25), and third in goals (7). Her 11 assists was third best in the ODAC this season while her 25 points was tied for 13th. She was recently selected to play in the 2022 Victory Sports Tours/Division III Senior Game that will take place during the 2022 NCAA Championship weekend at Rowan University in New Jersey.

Keller, playing mostly a defensive-midfield position, still found a way to be fourth on the team in goals scored and tied for second in assists. Whenever the Maroons would take a penalty corner and Keller was on the field, she would be the one to insert the ball, finding the right player at the right time. She was also nominated for the ODAC Field Hockey Scholar-Athlete award this season.

Vernarelli this season was not only able to score, but able to dish out assists to her teammates. She led the Maroons with 32 points on a team-leading 13 goals. She also tied Keller with six assists for second on the team. Her 32 points and 13 goals were ninth best in the ODAC this season in their respective categories. She was named the ODAC Player of the Week on October 10th while also earning a spot on the Synapse Sports Div. III Weekly Honor Roll.

Playing on the defensive side of the midfield, Warweg helped the Maroons to their longest win streak by shutout in program history with six-straight without giving up a goal. In the 7-0 win over Sewanee, she moved a little forward and assisted on the second goal of the game.
