Roanoke Ranked in Top-40 Nationally in Two Categories

Roanoke men's basketball is ranked in the top-40 among NCAA Div. III teams in scoring offense and assists per game in the latest statistical rankings. The men are currently 15-3, 7-2 in the ODAC.
The Maroons are averaging 80.1 points (39th) and 16.3 assists per game (33rd) in addition to a 1.07 assist-to-turnover ratio which is ranked 59th. Senior Drew Gaeng is ranked 23rd nationally in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.43) and is ranked among the top of the ODAC in that category.
They take on Guilford tonight at 7 p.m. in a battle for second-place in the current standings. The Maroons are 38-13 all-time against the Quakers. Roanoke defeated Guilford, 80-76 earlier this month at the Bast Center.
Roanoke men's basketball received 40 votes and is one spot out of the D3Hoops.com Top-25 Poll announced this week. It ended a streak of three weeks in the Top-25, the longest since the 1999-00 season. The Maroons have been in or received votes in the top-25 for seven-straight weeks this season, which is the longest since nine last season.
Curtis Peery leads the Maroons with 18.1 points and 6.9 rebounds per game in addition to team-highs in field goal percentage (55.4%) and free-throw percentage (84.2%). His 1,197 points are 21st on the career scoring list at Roanoke.
Melvin Felix is second in scoring (11 ppg) and is second in free-throw percentage (80.5%). He has hit 15 three-pointers this season (31.9%) in addition to 36 assists. Parrish Walker is posting 10.8 points and 3.9 rebounds per game and leads the team in steals (35) and second in assists with 42.
