Roanoke Stung by Emory & Henry in ODAC Contest,  69-60
SALEM - The Roanoke Men's Basketball team was unable to hold off the a second half swarm by Emory & Henry, falling 69-60 on Monday. The Maroons fall to 4-11, 0-6 in ODAC play, while the Wasps rise to 8-7, 2-5 ODAC.

Damian Edwards sparked the offense for E&H with 18 points, knocking down four from behind the arc. The Wasps outshot the Maroons from the field 47 percent to 38 percent. Emory and Henry also outrebounded the Maroons 37-31.

Roanoke came out of the gates hot, with its ODAC top scoring duo of Logan Singleton and Kwasi Amponsah leading the team to an early 6-2 lead.

At the 14:00 mark, the Maroons held a 10-9 lead over Emory & Henry until Tyler Driver of the Wasps knocked down a trey that spurred a 10-0 drive. That lead did not stand long, as Daniel Eacho and Adam Kessler posted a 7-0 run for the Maroons to pull it within two, 19-17.

At the 8:40 mark, Stefan Vulevic knocked down a jumper to reclaim the lead, 23-21 on behalf of Roanoke.

Emory & Henry caught fire in the last six minutes with Damian Edwards making 10 of his 13 first half points during that time. The Wasps extended their lead to as many as 12, 39-27.

Vulevic capped off the first half with a deep three-pointer to bring the Maroons back within nine, 39-30.

At the half, Daniel Eacho, led Roanoke with nine points, while Adam Kessler pulled down a team-high seven rebounds. Damian Edwards led the Wasps with 13 points.

Entering the second half, the Wasps opened with five straight points taking a 14-point lead. Amponsah responded by scoring six consecutive points for the Maroons. His final point in this 6-0 run put Amponsah in double-digit scoring for the 14th consecutive contest.

Just before the first media timeout of the second half, Daniel Eacho scored his 11th point of the game, surpassing a previous career-high of nine, assisted by Julian Ramirez. Coming out of the time out Ramirez made a impressive steal, that led to a bucket of his own, cutting the E&H lead to four, 46-42.

With 9:43 to go in the game, Emory and Henry's Damian Edwards drained a three-pointer to build an eight-point lead, 53-45. Edwards' bucket led to eight consecutive points by the Wasps over the next two minutes, earning their largest lead to that point of 16 points.

Despite late three-pointers by Amponsah and Ramirez, Emory & Henry would hold on to their lead for the remainder of the contest, defeating the Maroons 69-60.

Roanoke's scoring leader, Amponsah notched a team-high 15 points in the effort, to go with four steals. Amponsah surpassed 100 career steals mark (just the 19th player to do so) over the weekend, and with tonight's effort, totals 105 career steals.

Eacho finished the game with a career-high 14 points, followed by Vulevic with a career-high 10 points of his own. Adam Kessler led the team with eight rebounds, as the team's top rebounder for the second consecutive game.

Despite finishing the night with four points, Logan Singleton reached 900 career points over the weekend against Virginia Wesleyan, and after tonight sits at 905.

The Maroons will return to action on Wednesday, January 18 as they travel to face Randolph College. That contest is scheduled to start at 7:00 PM.
