Despite Solid Performance, Roanoke falls to Guilford on the Road, 89-72
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Gabriel Lowder made a school-record 10 three-pointers and scored a career-high 36 points in Guilford's 89-72 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) basketball victory over Roanoke Wednesday night at Ragan-Brown Fieldhouse.

The Quakers, who have won six of the last seven games, improved to 15-6 overall, 9-3 in the ODAC. The Maroons, who slipped to 6-14, 2-9 in conference play, shot well overall (44.8%), beyond the arc (10-26) and from the line (10-13). They also took care of the ball better on the night, with 16 assists to just 13 turnovers.

Lowder, a senior guard, made his first nine three-point shots before his first and only miss, which came with five minutes left in the game. He got another look with 3:10 to play and drilled his 10th three of the game from the top of the key.

The contest was tied 28-28 with 6:13 left in the first half before Lowder scored eight points in a 14-8 Quakers' run to end the half. Lowder hit two three-pointers and Josh Pittman added another during a 14-1 Guilford run to start the second half to break the game wide open.

Guilford shot 51.6% for the game, including 63-percent in the second half. The Quakers made 14-of-22 three-pointers (63.6%) and out-rebounded the Maroons, 39-28. Teammate Carson Sullivan contributed 10 points, five rebounds and three assists. Matt McCarthy chipped in eight points off the bench.

Logan Singleton made 5-of-10 from three-point range and scored a team-best 26 points. He also had seven rebounds and a game-high five steals. Kwasi Amponsah, who is the ODAC's leading scorer, added 18 points, plus a game-high seven assists.

Clay Lacy led the Maroons in the rebounding column with nine caroms in addition to eight points, narrowly missing a double-double. Ethan Humphries contributed four points, two rebounds and two assists while Julian Ramirez added three points and three assists.

The men will return home on Saturday, Feb. 4 as they take on #2 Virginia Wesleyan in ODAC action. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Bast Center.
