Three Maroons Named to NABC 2011-12 Honors Court

Kansas City, MO -- The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) today announced the NABC Honors Court, recognizing those collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the 2011-12 season. Roanoke College juniors Zach Barrett, Jimmy Bradshaw and Conner Toomey each earned the accolade from the NABC.

Zach Barrett - Junior - Business Major
Barrett, a Roanoke native, appeared in 23 games for the Maroons in the 2011-12 season. He averaged 3.6 points and 1.4 rebounds per game. Barrett scored a career-high 18 points against Eastern Mennonite (1/28), shooting 7-9 from the field.

Jimmy Bradshaw - Junior - Business Major
Bradshaw, from Springfield, VA, played in two games for Roanoke this season. He was a "Maroon Ambassador" in 2011, a position that helps mentor new Maroons through an easy transition period to campus life.

Connor Toomey - Junior - English Major
Toomey, a San Antonio, TX native, saw action in three games in 2011-12. He is working on a "Summer Scholars Project" this summer with Dr. Dolores Flores-Silva (Modern Language) and Dr. Virginia Stewart (English) on "Columbia: A Sociopolitical Study of Past and Present Realities Using One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez."

The NABC Honors Court recognizes the talents and gifts that these men possess off the court, and the hard work they exhibit in the classroom. In order to be named to the Honors Court, an athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria. The qualifications are as follows:
