Maroons Fall to #13 St. Mary's in Morris Cregger Invitational Final
SALEM - The Roanoke College men's basketball team fell in the championship game of the 2013 Morris Cregger Invitational to #13 ranked St. Mary's College of Maryland, 82-72. The Maroons now hold a record of 7-5, while the Seahawks are now 12-1.

Roanoke's Daniel Eacho posted a career-high 22 points on the afternoon, shooting 8-13 from the field. He also tallied seven rebounds and two blocks in the championship game.

The Maroons jumped out to an early lead in the first two minutes of the contest, after three points from Eacho and a layup by Julian Ramirez. However, the Seahawks took the advantage shortly after that, responding with six points of their own to go up 10-5 in the first five minutes of the contest. Through the first 10 minutes, St. Mary's had built a lead of 10, 20-10, capping a 10-5 run with a trey from Devin Spencer.

Roanoke retaliated with a 10-4 run to pull back within four, 24-20 at the 7:28 mark in the first period. St. Mary's outscored the Maroons 21-15 over the final seven minutes of the first half, giving the Seahawks a 10-point advantage heading in to the locker room, 45-35.

The #13 team in the country came hot out of the gates in the second half, opening on a 14-3 start in the period. Baskets by Cameron Smith and a trey from Andrew Daniels brought the Maroons back within 15 with 12:41 to play. Roanoke continued to work down the deficit, with Stefan Vulevic hitting a layup to bring Roanoke within 12, 68-56.

With 2:12 to play, St. Mary's had built their lead back to 20, but the Maroons continued to fight. Daniels, Akers, and Eacho each scored baskets down the stretch getting back within 10. However that would be the margin of victory for the Seahawks, 82-72 in the Morris Cregger Invitational championship game.

Daniel Eacho led the Maroons with his 22 points, followed by Daniels with 19 points and nine rebounds, a team-high mark in boards. Jordan Thacker dished out five assists on the afternoon, while Eacho also picked up two blocks.
