The Lead: Hampden-Sydney shot a blistering 63.6% in the second-half as the Tigers snapped Roanoke's 12 game winning streak, topping the Maroons 100-92 Wednesday night in Salem.

How it Happened
  • Roanoke was led by John Fitchett who had team-high 17 points. Cameron Smith had 15 points, Carter Wright had 14 points, while John Caldwell came off the bench to score 11 points.
  • Hampden-Sydney was led by Guilherme Guimaraes with 17 points. Mike Murray had 16 points for the Tigers and Jake Duncan chipped in with 12.
  • In a first-half that saw seven ties, RC was able to open up a 41-36 edge on a Caldwell bucket with just over two minutes to go.
  • H-SC scored six of the final 10 points of the half, with Guimaraes making the score 45-42 with a three-pointer in the final seconds.
  • The second-half was tight from the start with neither team able to gain more than a three-point lead until H-SC went up 70-64 with 10:13 to go.
  • RC went on a 12-4 run and tied the game at 76-76 on a C.J. Miles lay in with just over seven minutes to play.
  • A Mitch Owens three-pointer on the Tigers' ensuing possession sparked what proved to be a 12-3 H-SC run that put them out in front 88-79 with 4:35 to go.
  • Back-to-back baskets by Caldwell and Smith cut it to five points at 88-83, but that would be as close as RC would get as Gray Cheers made a three-pointer to put H-SC back out in front by eight.
