Roanoke Tabbed Second in ODAC Preseason Poll

Forest, Va. – The Roanoke College Men's Basketball team has been picked second in the 2016-17 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Men's Basketball Preseason Poll. 

RC garnered 108 points and two first-place votes to earn the second spot in the poll that was announced at the league's annual media day at the Salem Civic Center on Thursday. 

The Maroons return First-Team All-ODAC member Joey Miller who returns for his junior campaign. Third-Team selection John Fitchett is also back in the mix for the Maroons. 

RC is under the direction of first-year head coach Clay Nunley who was hired in April. Nunley replaces Page Moir who coached the Maroons for 27 seasons.

Virginia Wesleyan College stands atop the ODAC Men's Basketball preseason poll for the second straight season, earning eight first place votes and 117 points overall from the league's head coaches. RC sits second with 108 tallies including a pair of top nods. Guilford College earned one first place vote and collected 89 points, beginning a group from the third thru the seventh positions separated by just 19 points. Hampden-Sydney College received the remaining first place vote.

The Maroons open up their season on November 18 when it hosts Worcester State in the newly opened Cregger Center.
