The Lead: North Carolina Wesleyan knocked down 11 three-pointers en route to a 76-69 win over Roanoke on Saturday afternoon in Rocky Mount, N.C.

How it Happened:

  • The Maroons were led by Joey Miller who had a game-high 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting. Miller also grabbed eight rebounds as well. Josh Freund had 16 points to go along with a team-high nine rebounds and C.J. Miles had 15 points for RC as well.
  • NC Wesleyan was led by Chris Braswell who had 17 points and 10 rebounds. Justin Tankelewicz added 15 points and Cameron Martin added 13 points off the bench.
  • RC shot 50.9% for the game, making 27-of-53 attempts from the field but had 20 turnovers that resulted in 28 Battling Bishop points. NCWC shot 42.9% for the game, making 27-of-63 shots, including 11-of-26 three-point attempts.
  • A Miller three-pointer would give RC a 16-15 lead with just under 10 minutes to play in the first-half but an 11-0 run by NCWC put the Battling Bishops out in front 26-16.
  • Roanoke scored the next 10 points, pulling to within two when Miller drained a shot to make the score 26-26 with 5:02 to play.
  • NCWC scored 16 of the final 23 points of the half to take a 42-33 lead heading into the break.
  • The Maroons battled back and were able to make the score 49-46 with 15:19 to go in the game but NCWC went on an 11-4 run, taking a 60-50 lead with 9:42 to play.
  • RC chipped away and a Freund bucket with just under three minutes to play pulled RC to within three at 68-65.
  • NC Wesleyan got a three-pointer by Braswell on its ensuring possession to go up 71-65 and then would make 5-of-7 shots from the foul line down the stretch to seal the win.
