The Lead: Roanoke had four players in double-figures en route to a 77-65 ODAC Men's Basketball win over Emory & Henry Wednesday night in Salem.
How it Happened
- Roanoke was led by John Fitchett with 19 points. C.J. Miles and Caleb Jordan each had 17 and John Caldwell had 16.
- Emory & Henry got 12 points from Myles Turner and Aaron Ferguson and 11 points each from John Shelor and Clif Conley. Alic Wynn had 11 rebounds to help Emory & Henry to a 40-31 edge on the glass.
- Roanoke shot 42.4% for the game, making 25-of-59 shots on the night. RC was 11-of-30 from beyond three-point line and turned the ball over just four times. E&H was 24-of-58 for a 41.4 shooting percentage and had 11 assists, led by five from Ryan Gravely.
- With the score tied 13-13 in first-half, the Wasps went on a 10-2 run, moving ahead 23-15 on a Gravely three-pointer with 11:26 on the clock.
- Roanoke rallied with a 12-4 run of its own to tie the game 27-27 on a Miles three-pointer with 7:25 to go half. The Wasps were up 33-32 before a 9-2 push by the Maroons made it 41-35 as the RC would lead 41-40 at the half.
- The Maroons went up 56-47 when Jordan knocked down a jumper with just over 14 minutes to play before the Wasps went on a 12-3 run to tie the game 59-59 with nine minutes left on the clock.
- Roanoke led down the stretch but not able to open up more than a six point lead before Jordans three-point play made it 72-64 and sparked the first of eight unanswered points to end the game.
