The Lead: The Maroons fell 97-83 at Washington and Lee Saturday afternoon in ODAC Men's Basketball action.
How it Happened:
- Joey Miller came off the bench to score a team-high 28 points for the Maroons, while C.J Miles tallied 21 points.
- Four Generals scored in double-digits led by Clayton Murtha with 29 points and 12 rebounds as Washington and Lee held a 37-30 advantage on the boards. Nicholas George chipped in with 19 points and Roy McMillan added 18.
- RC shot 47.4% on the day going 27-for-57 from the field while W&L went 32-for-62 for 51.6%.
- The Generals jumped out to a 10-1 lead capped by a three-pointer from McMillan just five minutes into the contest.
- The Maroons fought back as a Josh Freund layup gave RC a 40-39 lead headed into the intermission.
- In the second half, a Devin Kearns bucket started a 15-4 run by the Generals to take a 54-44 lead with 15 minutes remaining.
- Roanoke brought it to within four folliwng a layup by Miller making it 54-50 W&L but RC was unable to close the gap as W&L used a 10-2 push to go up 64-52 with 12 minutes to play.
- Roanoke was unable to get its deficit under double-digits again as the Generals lead reached 20 points down the stretch.
