Roanoke Closes Regular Season with 76-69 Win at Shenandoah

The Lead: Roanoke held Shenandoah scoreless for the final three minutes of the game to rally for a 76-69 ODAC win at SU on Saturday.  

How it Happened

  • C.J. Miles led four Maroons in double-figures with 16 points. John Fitchett and Joey Miller each had 12 points, while John Caldwell finished with 11 for RC.
  • All five Shenandoah starters scored in double figures led by Dalon McHugh's 14 points.
  • SU led 25-13 with nine minutes to go in the first half before a Miles three-pointer cut the Hornets lead to 27-21 with 2:43 to play.
  • The Hornets led 33-28 at halftime but RC would score seven of the first nine points of the second stanza to tie the game at 35-35 with 18 minutes to go in the game.
  • The game remained close with SU taking a 53-47 lead following a Jonah Meredith three-point play with 12 minutes to go in the contest.
  • SU scored its final basket with 3:19 on the clock when a Kwa McDonald bucket made it 69-68 Hornets.
  • Back-to-back baskets from Miller and Josh Freund put RC up 72-69 with under two minutes to play and free-throws by Miller and Miles iced the game down the stretch.

Up Next: Roanoke has earned the sixth-seed in the ODAC Tournament and will host No. 11 Randolph at 7:00 on Monday.
