The Lead: Roanoke College played host to Emory & Henry in the quarterfinals of the 2021 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Basketball Tournament. The Maroons hit four consecutive three-pointers and never looked back as the cruised to a 25-point win over the Wasps.

How it Happened:

  • Efosa Edosomwan, Kasey Draper, and Nick Price would combine to go 4-4 from behind the arc to stake the Maroons to a 12-0 lead after three minutes of play. 
  • At the five minute mark, Emory & Henry had cut the lead to single digits, 27-18, before a pair of Justin Kuthan free throws sparked the Maroons to close out the first half on a 15-9 run.
  • Draper free throws and an Edosomwan layup got the scoring started in the second half.
  • Price hit a jumper to push the lead to 20, but a 5-0 E&H surge would make it 54-37 with just over 13 minutes on the clock.
  • Tripp Greene connected on a jump shot that would start an 8-0 run that was capped by a Kuthan three-point play as the RC lead was once again back over 20 points.
  • Back-to-back threes by Greene gave the Maroons their largest lead of the night, 86-54, with 4:50 left to play.
  • The Maroons would shoot 50.7% from the field and 52.2% from long range while enjoying a 53-37 edge on the glass.
  • Edosomwan led all scorers with 22 to go with 12 rebounds and four assists. Greene and Kuthan added 18 points with Draper registering a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards.

Up next: Roanoke will await the winner of the Randolph-Macon at Bridgewater game to see who they will host in the semifinals on Tuesday night.
