  • The Short Story: The Roanoke men's basketball team traveled north to the Big Apple for a quick contest at Pratt Institute. After a little going back and forth, the Maroons pulled away midway through the first half for an 84-42 win over the Cannoneers on Saturday afternoon in Brooklyn. Marcus Morgan led Roanoke with 15 points and six rebounds while Kasey Draper nearly had a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • It was nearly two minutes into the game before either team scored with Tripp Greene hitting all three free throws putting the Maroons ahead 3-0 at 18:22. After going back and forth, Pratt stretched their lead to the largest they would have at six points at 13:52. The Maroons responded with an 8-0 run to take a four-point lead at 11:59. Things slowed down over the next three minutes with the two teams tied for the final time at 20-20 with 9:05 left in the first half.
  • Another run by Roanoke, this time by nine, put the lead for good in the Maroons' hands. Over the next nine minutes, the visitors went on a 22-5 run to lead by 17 at halftime.
  • Pratt scored their 25th point at 1:43 left in the first half and didn't find the scoreboard again until 17:02 of the second half. During that stretch, Roanoke went on a 16-0 run and would double-up Pratt for the first time at 54-27 at 16:50 left in the game.
  • The Maroons kept Pratt at bay and finished the game scoring 30-15 for a end of game double-up of 84-42 on the Cannoneers.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • Roanoke shot 49.3% from the field (35-71) while holding Pratt to just 28.6% (16-56).
  • The Maroons led the Cannoneers in nearly every offensive category including three pointers (10-4), rebounds (51-29), assists (21-9), bench points (38-14), steals (13-5), and points in the paint (44-20).
  • In addition to Marcus Morgan's double-figure day, both Zach Rosenthal and Justin Kuthan scored 12 points and Tripp Greene added in 11. In total, 11 Maroons scored while 13 grabbed a rebound.

  • After a break for final exams, the Maroons will travel south to the Volunteer State for a pair of contests before the Christmas holiday, starting with a game against Berry (Ga.) on Monday, December 19. The game will take place just outside of Nashville and is scheduled to get started at 11 a.m. ET.
