Trio of Maroons Named Al-ODAC; Draper Named Scholar-Athlete of the Year

SALEM, Va. – The Roanoke men's basketball team heads into the 2023 ODAC Tournament as the No. 4 seed thanks in part to a trio of players that have been selected to the All-ODAC Teams. Kasey Draper not only earned a spot on the All-ODAC First Team but was named the ODAC/Va. Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Justin Kuthan earned his first spot on an All-ODAC team with a Second Team selection. Efosa U-Edosomwan earned his third-straight selection to the All-ODAC Third Team.

Draper is a business administration major with a 4.0 GPA, majoring in business administration and a minor in Spanish, who has started all 24 games for Roanoke this year. A 2022 CoSIDA Academic All-America selection, he is averaging 16.5 points per game, 6.0 rebounds per game, and 1.8 assists per game. He finished with a three double-doubles this season and scored 33 points on the road at Shenandoah. He has been named All-Region and First Team All-ODAC the past two seasons as well as First Team All-State by VaSID.

Kuthan, the 2021 ODAC Rookie of the Year, got the nod after playing in all 25 games for the Maroons. He scored an average 12.3 points per game with 307 total points. He finished the regular season with 151 rebounds, 18 steals, nine assists and six blocks. Kuthan scored in double figures all but four games this season. Kuthan also recorded two double-doubles on the season against Bridgewater (22 points, 11 rebounds) and Hampden-Sydney (10 points, 12 rebounds). He was named to the Frankie Allen Tip-Off All-Tournament team after helping the Maroons win the event with wins over Alfred and Salisbury.

U-Edosomwan became the third active player to reach 1,000 career points after starting all 25 games for the Maroons. He finished the regular season with 272 points, averaging 10.9 per game. Throughout the season, he grabbed 136 rebounds, gave out 54 assists, stole 23 possessions and rejected 10 shots with a block. He recorded a double-double against Hampden-Sydney with 14 points and 11 rebounds.  

The No. 4 seed Maroons will take on the No. 5 seed Washington and Lee in the ODAC Tournament quarterfinals on Friday, February 24 at the Salem Civic Center. Tip-off with the Generals is scheduled for 3 p.m.
