The Lead: Roanoke scored a win in game one behind three hits from Taylor Carter and a home run by Mattie Morris in the 5-3 win.
How it Happened
- With Southern Virginia leading 1-0, Roanoke got all the runs its would need in the second inning when Ruthie Williams singled with one out and then Jordan Meador reached on a hit by pitch. Morris then followed with a home run to make it 3-1.
- Carter would follow with a solo home run of her own two batters later to make it 4-1 Maroons.
- In the fifth inning, Carter doubled with two outs and would come around to score on a single by Katie Romano to make it 5-1 RC.
- Williams was one of three RC pitchers on the day. The southpaw got the win after going three innings and allowing just one run on three hits. Taylor Asimakopoulos tossed three innings and Jasmine Agee tossed the final frame for RC.

The Lead: Carter continued her hot day with two hits, including a grand slam as the Maroons took the nightcap 10-3.
How it Happened
- Down 1-0 in the second inning, RC tied the game on a wild pitch then after SVU walked the bases loaded, Carter delivered a grand slam with two outs to make it 5-1.
- Taylor Slate followed with a single then stole second and third, before scoring on a wild pitch.
- A Katie Smith double scored Carter to make it 7-3 in the fourth inning, before RC made it 10-3 in the fifth inning on RBI singles by Samantha Baldwin and Williams.
- RC played 23 different players in the game and four different Maroons saw action in the circle with Emily Salsberry picking up the win to improve to 1-1 on the season. Salsberry went three innings and struck out four in the process.
- Courtney Oliver, Sarah McGuirl and Teresa Wagner combined not to allow a run in four innings of relief work for the Maroons.
Roanoke will host Christopher Newport on Sunday in a doubleheader starting at 3:00 p.m.
